Matthew Gau, Operations Manager
Matt Gau is the Operations Manager at Tri-Med Ambulance, LLC. Matt has spent all of his professional career in the EMS industry, and has held every position at Tri-Med during his tenure. Beginning as a resident firefighter in 2001, he became more interested in the EMS side of the industry and transferred his focus to the private ambulance sector, all while embracing his unique understanding of how the service should be delivered to the Fire Departments.
Matt’s passion for providing exceptional service to our customers has blossomed from very early job experiences in retail. He has taken this along with him, believing that we should always strive to do things better, and to keep the customer more than satisfied. He also gained valuable experience at Tri-Med, starting as an EMT-Basic and working the “streets”. This experience has allowed Matt to maintain an intimate understanding of the processes and trends in the county EMS system. For several years he watched the Fire Department and Medic One in action and gained great knowledge of the expectations they have of ambulance delivery.
Matt also holds a position on the board of directors for the Central Region Trauma Council. This experience has allowed him to better corroborate King County EMS initiatives with the crew members at Tri-Med.
Matt was born in Seattle, and has resided in King County his entire life. He grew up on the eastside of Lake Washington and now resides in the Kennydale area of Renton with his family. In his free time, Matt’s two daughters keep him with busy with school, dance, and soccer activities.

Kari Maggard, Human Resources/Office Manager
Kari Maggard joined Tri-Med Ambulance in early 2012 with over nine years of Human Resources experience. Following her graduation from Central Washington University with a BA, Kari gained experience as a Human Resources Manager for the global flooring retailer, Kraus Flooring. In late 2010, Kari joined NorMed, a medical supply company, where she stayed until she started at Tri-Med.
Kari is responsible for all recruitment, staffing, training and development, performance monitoring, payroll, benefits. She is the chair of the safety committee, a program she restructured. Her experience has provided her with exceptional communication skills, which she utilizes in Tri-Med’s hiring practices and all aspects of personnel management. Additionally, Kari monitors and maintains licensing and compliance administration for Tri-Med.
Growing up as a daughter of a firefighter, Kari developed a passion for EMS at a young age. Kari was born and raised here and is very active in our community along with her husband and her two daughters. Her understanding and knowledge of this industry has allowed her to contribute in many ways during her tenure at Tri-Med. Kari has been a huge asset to our company; she adds great value to our management team.

Randy McCaleb, Field Supervisor
Randy McCaleb has been involved in EMS for 20 years. He got his start at New Market Vocational Skill Center, where he received his Firefighter 1 certification. From there, he volunteered at Littlerock Fire and Rescue while continuing to advance his certification levels, obtaining IFSAC, HAZMAT, and his EMT-B license.
Randy received extensive experience overseas as a contract firefighter in the early 2000s, working in both Iraq and Antarctica, where he gained valuable skills working as a team member. He rose to the rank of Captain during this time, enhancing his level of knowledge and management skills.
In 2009, Randy came to Tri-Med Ambulance as an EMT and was promoted to Field Supervisor in 2011. He currently trains all new hires and supervises them through their field probationary process. Randy resides in Tacoma with his wife, seven-year-old son and two-year-old daughter.
