Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Correct mapping to and from dispatched destinations

  • Maintaining good relationships with hospital staff, fire dept personnel, and citizens

  • Following Emergency Vehicle Accident Prevention procedures when operating an ambulance

  • Maintaining professional appearance

  • Following guidelines and using judgment centered on safety in all actions

  • Always maintaining clean and professional ambulances and crew quarters

  • Completing Patient Care Transport Reports completely and thoroughly

  • Attending monthly mandatory crew meetings

  • Maintaining current Competency-Based Training (CBT)
 

EMT picture

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) provides BLS (Basic Life Support) ambulance transports and conducts medical procedures while following the Standard of Care established by the Washington State Department of Health. The primary objective of the EMT-B is to provide compassionate, respectful ambulance and medical transportation, while preserving patients’ dignity and ensuring community safety.
